White Bass Polluted Fish

Mercury, Arsenic and Selenium pollutants found in white bass.

Sad to say, after a recent study done, white bass is one of the most polluted fish to swim in freshwater.

A few scientists did the testing on the fish in Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Mercury, Arsenic and Selenium were found in the white bass fillets.
Now conclusions can’t be made that all white bass are unsafe to eat, but if you live in urban areas where industrial plants are, I’d play it safe!

It’s very disappointing I know, because white bass make for tasty meal.
They sure are a beautiful looking fish too, I love the stripes on the side of the fish. And the way they travel in schools is very entertaining.

I remember when my girlfriend and I ran into a school of them last year in the summer, they were jumping right out of the water.

We were catching them on both crankbaits and topwater lures like the Zara Spook. They are a magnificent fish to catch, give up a pretty good fight!

You can read more about the tests done on the white bass in this pdf file here.
