Slow at Stony Creek Lake

I went to Stony Creek Lake a week ago, boy was it slow. I think I tried about every lure in my tackle box, we ended up catching just about one of everything.

I caught one largemouth bass, one catfish, one bluegill, one crappie, and one small walleye, that was all over 7 hours. Everything seemed just super small, I thought the lake produced big fish, seems like the lake just got stocked with fish. I think the lake is more known for it’s crappie rather than big fish.

The day before I fished the lake for a few hours on my bass raider, had something decent on with my Gitzit but it got off. I really didn’t have a good experience at Stony Creek. I did a little research online, visited other fishing forums and it seems not many fisherman have much luck on that lake either. It’s kind of weird because the lake is pretty deep and of pretty good size, I thought I would of caught more fish. It might be still early though, we’re still in spring. The lake might produce a lot more fish in summer time.

Right now, I think I’m going to stick with Kent Lake. I’ll probably hit up Stony Creek in a month or so when we get deeper into summer. Just seemed like the fish weren’t biting.

My brother said to try some Mepps spinners next time I’m on the lake, he said that lure works really well on the lake. So if you head out to Stony, give some spinners a try.
