Monster Muskie in Lake St. Clair

If you’re looking to catch a big Muskie this summer, well look no further than Lake St. Clair. The lake is known for big smallmouth bass and walleye, but what some anglers don’t know is the monster size Musky that lurk in the deeper waters of the lake. Take for instance the channel located near Grosse Pointe Park, I just know there are some monster size muskies lurking in that area. It’s the deepest part of the lake.

I actually came across an article in the Detroit Freepress the other day talking about an angler named Steve Lindemann who had first hand experience with a record size Muskie. He said it was so big he couldn’t even fit it in his net. He tried lifting the fish’s head in the boat with the rod, no cigar. The hooks pulled out of the Muskie mouth and the fish came crashing down in the water. He must of felt so bad afterwards, I know I would of. It happened to me quite a few times, but I didn’t even get to see most of my fish. Most of the huge fish I caught ended up just snapping my line and taking off.

So if you’re interested, try Lake St. Clair for fishing. It’s a great lake! Just check out the picture above, Wally Cogley out of Pittsburgh pulled this 53 1/2 inch muskie out of Lake St. Clair fishing from charter boat Predator with Captain Steve Jones. What a monster looking fish, I’d crap myself if I ever seen a big fish like that at the end of my line.

Muskie really get me pumped every time I read an article about them. I still haven’t caught one so I’m kind of urging to get out and catch one. Maybe one day I will! There’s one major trait about me, I never quit!
