Modified Mepps Spinner

I’m not going to lie, the Mepps Spinner is my second best fishing bait in my tackle box. Or should I say modified Mepps Spinner.

This is no ordinary Mepps Spinner, I’ve taken the treble hook off and put a regular hook on the spinner. I buy a hook with barbs so the Berkley Powerbait worm I attach holds on longer.

The bass will tear this lure up when they bite and fight on it.

The combination between the soft plastic Powerbait and the gold Mepps spinner is just dynamite.

The largemouth bass can’t resists when I’m busting this lure by lily pads and weeds. This fishing lure is meant to be fished in more of a shallow region of a lake or pond. But if you want, you can attach some split shots or a bullet weight to it to see if any smallmouth bass will hit on it in deeper water.

Personally I just use it in the shallow areas. The largemouth bass really love the combo, I think the scent of the Powerbait and the flash of the gold spinner gives off an incredible attractant for the fish. By the way, I suggest going with a number 3 Mepps spinner.
