Lake St. Clair: Largemouth Bass

Last time I was out, about four days ago, hooked a nice size largemouth bass.

Caught it on a beetle spin in shallow area near the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club.

I tried fishing in the deeper part of the lake and also tried fishing near the 400 Club, didn’t get nothing. Seemed like the smallmouth bass weren’t biting at all. Didn’t even pick up a pike or a muskie either.

My girlfriend and I even tried trolling a little bit, I was so surprised to not pick up anything trolling.

We usually catch at least one or two smallmouth bass trolling. I talked to another fisherman that day and he said it could be because it rained the other day and the lake was stirred up.

On murky days they say try dark lures, I did, but nothing.

However my girlfriend also caught a largemouth bass in shallow water as well.

But ended up losing it when she got it near the boat, the snap swivel came undone and the lure came off. Not her fault at all, the lip on the snap swivel bent back, she still felt bad.

I swear, it seems like they are making some of these fishing accessories cheaper and cheaper.

Looks like it will be raining for the next few days, I’m not sure if we’ll be able to get out fishing.
