Yet another company has come out with a camera that will allow you to record your fishing expeditions hands free. i-KAM EXTREME is the new technology, it incorporates a video camera right into the glasses.
The camera is completely wireless, there are no cords or battery packs required. When it comes down to recording, you can record up to 3 hours of video. That’s on the stock 4 gigabytes of memory, if you want more memory, the glasses do accept a 8 gigabyte Micro SD card.
The glasses can be hooked directly to a PC with the supplied USB cable to view the video, or when using the Micro SD card, it can be inserted into a card reader to watch footage. i-KAM XTREME glasses allow you to choose from four interchangeable lenses: smoke, brown, yellow and clear to use in all lighting conditions. Frames come in both glossy, flat black, white and RealTree camouflage.
While the i-KAM XTREME rightfully challenges the HatCam, I don’t think it can compete with the Flip camcorder that can be installed on the HatCam. The i-KAM XTREME only allows you to record 25 frames per second, while the HatCam is 60 frames per second. And the i-KAM XTREME isn’t HD like the latest Flip camcorder. On the flip side of that though, I think the i-KAM XTREME will not be as wobbly as the HatCam. So that is a plus for the i-KAM XTREME.
Best thing to do is watch videos on YouTube for both technologies and see what one suits you best. It gets really rocky out on Lake St. Clair, so the i-KAM XTREME might be better for me. All I know is I’m really excited about this new technology coming out, definitely going to help us sportsman enjoy hunting and fishing a lot more. As well as other outdoor activities…
