Fishing for Smallmouth Bass

My most favorite fish to catch in freshwater is the smallmouth bass.

They can be hard to get to because of the depth they like to swim at, but you can get to them easier if you have a boat.

Luckily I have a point off of the shore near me that travels to deep waters, so if you have a location like that try it out for smallie fishing.

I like this fish the most because of it’s fighting skills, they are very strong and can maneuver like rockets through the water. The only thing I think that can compare to a eight pound smallmouth is a Muskie.

So what do these kind of bass like to feed on? I have found out that beetle spins work fairly good along with crankbaits because they can travel to their swimming depth.

I think the deeper you are the bigger the Smallmouth you can catch.

So what’s the largest smallie I have caught, you might ask?

I would have to say the bass was between five to six pounds, I caught it off of the point near me. Man did that fish fight, thought I had a Sturgeon on!
