A lot of bass fisherman on forums around the net have mention a soft plastic worm I never tried before, it’s made by the fishing company Creme.
There motto is the “original plastic worm,” so they must have been around for quite some time. A lot of largemouth fisherman from the southern states say it works great on bass.
The particular Creme lure I got my eye on is the Scally Wag II, it looks like the perfect soft plastic to try on smallmouth bass over here in Michigan. I fish on Lake St. Clair and the smallmouth bass really seem to like jigs in the summer and fall, that’s why I think it would work.
The Scally Wag II has the typical floating tail action, that if fished right can give a similar presentation to real life worm in the water. What makes the Scally Wag II so different than the competition is the ribbed thick body, it will hold up good over time and the bass will really like the feel to it when the bite the Scally Wag II. I’ve always had good luck with the ribbed Berkley Powerbait bodies. There prices over at their Creme website are rather cheap too. Give them a gander when you get a chance cremelure.com.
