Even though Lake St. Clair can be really rough at times, there are some really good spots to kayak and canoe.
One spot off the top of my head is Grosse Pointe Woods Pier Park.
There’s a big cove that gives you cover from the large waves and if you want, you can head over the Ford’s cove. Ford’s cove is beautiful, lots of beautiful trees and you’re able to see the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House from the water.
Other great spots are Grosse Pointe Farms Park, if you can’t get any of those parks you can also try Metro Park and Anchor Bay.
Lake St. Clair is just filled with great hot spots for canoeing and kayaking. Definitely give it a try, but be careful if you ever go out on the main lake.
I’ve been out there before when the wind changes and then the rollers come in, talking four foot waves.
