Berkley Powerbait Crankbait

Berkley Powerbait Lipless Crankbaits

Remember this fishing lure from the 90s, Berkley Powerbait’s lipless crankbait? I’m not sure why Berkley decided to discontinues this lure, it was great for catching smallmouth bass and northern pike.

Luckily I still have two left over in my tackle box. What made this crankbait so unique is the wobbly tail action it gives off and the Powerbait scent attractant that is embedded in the soft plastic tail.

Great Lure for Smallies!

I really hate when fishing companies discontinue great fishing lures like these. I guess it’s part of life, things come and go, it’s just nice to be able to remember them. I had some great memories with this lure, casting it out into Lake St.

Clair and hooking one smallmouth bass after the next. I also have the next step up if you didn’t notice, the heavier lipless crankbait is great for getting down deep in those hard to reach places where that lunker smallmouth might be hiding out.

This will be a fun lure to cast out in the summer season this year, I just hope I don’t lose it like I did with my Bomber rainbow trout crankbait.

I have a couple of these lures as well. I always seem to have luck with them, especially the fire tiger color pattern, and wish they still made them since I am down to my last one. I’ve caught pike, walleye, and lake trout on this lure. It just seems to be something fish really like, and I haven’t been able to find anything like it since.
