Bass Raider Pontoon Boat

This year I have been fishing more than ever, I used to fish a lot when I was younger, back then it was easy finding spots because companies and people didn’t mind anyone fishing on their land. Man, nowadays it’s been harder than ever, the last two months I have been fishing in one spot because all the other areas I used to fish at when I was younger have “no fishing” signs now. It’s really disappointing!

So what did I do to solve this little dilemma? Well, I decided to buy a boat. It’s nothing really fancy or anything, but it will do. I ended up purchasing Pelican’s Bass Raider 10 plastic Pontoon Fishing Boat. It’s perfect for any inland lake or pond, so far I’ve taken it out at Stony Creek and Kent Lake. Both times it has done really well. I kind of dropped it off the truck on accident and the RAM-X plastic held up really well, didn’t crack or put any dent in the boat.

I ended up buying the boat at Sports Authority for $460, the store had it on clearance. I just new I had to pick it up, it ended up fitting perfectly on my Dodge Durango roof. At other stores the boat retails for $600-800, even on Amazon the boat is going for $800.

What I like is it comes with two contoured swivel seats already with the boat, making it perfect for sitting down and casting. Making any fishing trip relaxing! Also included is a built-in motor mount on transom, bow electric motor mount, lure compartments, vertical rod holders, drink holders, and carrying handles. I plan on purchasing an electric trolling motor eventually. Probably end up buying Minn Kota’s TRAXXIS 40 Transom-Mount Trolling Motor. Mainly because the specific trolling motor comes with a Digital Maximizer, new technology that helps the trolling motor run up to five-times longer on one single charge.

Right now we have been using regular oars, kind of a pain in the ass finding that fishing hot spot, but it will do for now. So far I have caught 4 bass on it, 2 walleye, catfish, and a bunch of panfish on the Bass Raider. I’m very pleased with my purchase. The boat travels across the water really well and takes rocky waves pretty good. I recommend anyone in buying a Bass Raider, Pelican makes really nice plastic fishing boats.
